ABOUT SEALANDER & PRODUCTION

The Sealander is developed and built in Germany. State-of-the-art manufacturing processes from boat-building and carbody construction are combined here with traditional craftsmanship’s precision and love of detail.

For the chassis and interior of the SEALANDER, fibreglass-reinforced plastic mats are fused manually into a seamless whole.

Every SEALANDER is unique. You choose the colours and materials. Our boat-builders and engineers will make the SEALANDER you want.

Fibreglass-reinforced plastic and stainless steel give the SEALANDER stability and form. Only high quality components are used.

We use leather, wood and stainless steel for the interior. The harmonious composition of the materials creates the atmosphere of a superior yacht.

No machine works with the precision of a human being. Our boat-builders and engineers complete the SEALANDER’s fine detailing by hand, for top-quality.

The SEALANDER meets all required safety standards for a land and a water vehicle world-wide (TÜV, CE).

Every SEALANDER chassis is sealed with a gel coat, for a flawless, gleaming surface that defies wind and weather.
Our aspiration is to make the perfect product for your perfect moments!

STORIES & TRIPS

THE STORY OF DAVID FROM INGOLSTADT

The Sealander has been my second home for several years. Traveling with the Sealander, whether on the water or on land, simply never gets boring. Being on the go beyond the tourist mainstream is the greatest thing for me as a blogger and I love to do that with my girlfriend and friends.

THE STORY OF SILVI UND PATRICK AUS BÖBLINGEN

It simply tastes best on the water: We often have freshly caught fish for dinner with very romantic lighting. Then we are especially addicted to the charm of the Sealander and feel like adventurers and little captains.

THE STORY OF MICHA UND RITA AUS FRANKFURT

For us, time with the Sealander is simply a pleasure. Inhaling the relaxed atmosphere and being so spontaneously and simply on the water and back on land is really an experience. We deeply enjoy experiencing where and when we feel like doing it and spontaneously deciding whether to wake up on the water or somewhere in a valley with a view of the mountains.

11 QUESTIONS & 11 ANSWERS

The Sealander is both an approved unbraked caravan under 750 kg as well as a category D motorboat and may be used in all areas of this caravan and boat class.

Country / caravan: On land, the Sealander is an unbraked caravan with a gross vehicle weight of 750 kg and can therefore be moved, parked and used like any other caravan in this class.

Water / boat: On the water it is classified as a category D pleasure craft and can be used within the framework of the weather conditions provided for by the CE for this category, e.g. small bays, on lakes, narrow rivers and canals, as well as in protected coastal waters up to 1 km from the shore. Extract from the CE seaworthiness classification: Category D boats are designed for voyages in which weather conditions with a wind force of up to and including 4 and significant wave heights of up to and including 0.3 m and occasionally wave heights of no more than 0.5 m, for example due to passing ships, occur can.

The Sealander is an unbraked caravan with a gross vehicle weight of 750 kg and an empty weight of depending on the equipment. 500-580 kg. The information on the technically permissible trailer load without brakes can be found in the vehicle documents under item O.2

On site, the Sealander has been developed for a speed of up to 100 km / h and is approved for use on the road. Since it is an unbraked trailer, the permission for a speed of 100 km / h also depends on the towing vehicle and its weight as well as technical equipment such as ABS. With regard to the weight of the car, the TÜV recommends as a rule of thumb that the total mass of the trailer must be less than 0.3 of the total mass of the car pulling it.

No boat license or trailer license is required. Only a class B driver's license is needed if you are towing the Sealander with your car.

The Sealander can easily be lowered into the water and pulled back on land by one person. To do this, it is either brought in or out of the water directly by car via a water ramp or a suitable driveway to the water, or it can be roped down and pulled out over greater distances using a cable winch. Depending on the exercise, the whole process takes a maximum of 5-10 minutes. Great physical strength is not necessary for this as the force is applied by the car or the cable winch. We would be happy to show you the best moves for a quick and relaxed process and a pleasant journey.

The Sealander is equipped with two seats facing each other, which can comfortably seat up to 6 people on land. On the water, the load is limited to 410 kg, which means that the permitted number of people with luggage and motor must not exceed this value. For overnight stays, the two seats can be converted into a comfortable lounging area with the dimensions 140 x 202 cm in a few simple steps, which is ideal for 2 people, even with small children.

The Sealander is ideally suited for overnight stays on the water. With our special equipment marine package you get the right anchor and the matching anchor light.

The Sealander can be equipped with a combustion engine or an electric outboard motor, up to an engine output of up to 8 HP or a weight of a maximum of 30 kg. A 5 HP motor with a long shaft is ideal for the correct feed. Since the Sealander is a displacement boat, its maximum speed with a 5 HP engine is approx. 5 knots (approx. 9 kmh). You will find a selection of motors that we have tested for many years and are ideally suited for the Sealander in our configurator. We would be happy to advise you on the choice of the right motor, which is perfectly suited for your adventures with the Sealander.

In terms of registration, the Sealander is both an unbraked caravan weighing less than 750 kg and a category D motorboat. In terms of construction and technology, the Sealander is a boat to meet the significantly higher requirements for material and workmanship on the water, such as stainless DVA stainless steel, waterproof AW 100 glued plywood or GRP hand laminate.

The Sealander has a fully galvanized chassis with watertight wheel hubs, as well as handrails and bathing ladder made of seawater-resistant stainless steel and is therefore also well suited for adventures in salt water.

The Sealander is insured on land as an unbraked caravan under 750 kg and on the water as a category D motorboat. Most insurers offer combined insurance, each of which contains liability and partial or fully comprehensive insurance. We will be happy to advise you on this and can also refer you directly to an insurer for a non-binding offer.
